Abstract

Studi ini dilakukan dengan tujuan untuk melihat hubungan transformational leadership dan work engagement pada karyawan divisi IT. Transformational leadership ialah perilaku kepemimpinan yang mengutamakan keinginan untuk menggapai pencapaian dan perkembangan diri para pengikutnya, selagi juga memamerkan perkembangan kelompok dan organisasi (Bass & Avolio, 1990). Work engagement adalah keadaan well-being kerja yang positif, afektif-kognitif yang dapat terlihat sebagai kebalikan dari job burnout dengan adanya vigor, dedication, dan absorption (Schaufeli & Bakker, 2003). Penelitian ini melibatkan oleh 168 karyawan tetap atau karyawan kontrak, bekerja di divisi IT, dan masa kerja minimal satu tahun. Penelitian ini menggunakan alat ukur Global Transformational Leaderhip (Carless et al., 2000) dan Utrecht Work Engagement Scale (Schaufeli & Bakker, 2010). Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa transformational leadership berhubungan positif dengan work engagement, transformational leadership berhubungan positif dengan dimensi work engagement seperti dan vigor adalah dimensi yang paling tinggi hubungannya dengan transformational leadership. Hal ini mengimplikasikan bahwa transformational leadership dan work engagement memiliki hubungan yang positif.
