Peran Perceived Supervisor Support terhadap Work Engagement (Studi Pada Karyawan PT XYZ)

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menguji peran perceived supervisor support (PSS) terhadap work engagement (WE) para karyawan di PT XYZ. WE merupakan perilaku karyawan dalam bekerja yang ditandai dengan vigor, dedication, serta absorption (Schaufeli & Bakker, 2004). Vigor dapat dilihat melalui tingkat keseriusan individu dalam menghadapi kesulitan dalam bekerja. Dedication mengarah kepada seorang individu yang merasa terlibat kuat dalam pekerjaannya. Absorption dapat didefinisikan sebagai konsentrasi penuh dan perasaan senang terhadap pekerjaan yang dikerjakan. WE karyawan dapat ditimbulkan melalui beberapa aspek salah satunya PSS. PSS merupakan pandangan umum dari perspektif karyawan mengenai sejauh mana atasan menghargai dan menilai setiap kontribusi mereka dan pekerjaan yang mereka lakukan. Dengan merasakan support yang diberikan dari atasan secara emosional dengan memberikan empati, perasaan diterima, dan perhatian dari atasan, informasional dengan memberikan ilmu pengetahuan serta saran kepada karyawan, dan material diberikan dengan menyiapkan keburuhan materi seperti pemberian anggaran, sumber daya, dan bantuan nyata lainnya yang berhubungan dengan karyawan,  karyawan akan merasa lebih terikat dengan pekerjaannya. PSS diukur dengan menggunakan Survey Perceived Supervisor Support (Eisenberger et al., 2002). WE diukur dengan menggunakan Utrecht Work Engagement Scale (Schaufeli & Bakker, 2003). Partisipan penelitian ini meliputi 152 karyawan PT XYZ. Berdasarkan hasil analisis menggunakan uji regresi sederhana menunjukkan bahwa PSS berperan positif terhadap WE, F (1,150) = 33.426, p < 0.05. Maka semakin tinggi PSS, semakin tinggi WE para karyawan PT XYZ.
