Abstract

ABSTRAK

Magang menyediakan pengalaman belajar bagi mahasiswa agar merasa siap ketika tiba waktunya untuk mendapatkan dan memasuki dunia kerja. Namun faktanya di lapangan, tidak semua mahasiswa yang telah melakukan magang merasa yakin atau siap mendapatkan pekerjaan. Studi ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui peran kualitas dari suatu magang (internship quality) dalam memprediksi employability. Internship Quality adalah bagaimana individu mempersepsi kualitas dari suatu magang (Gamboa et al., 2013) Employability adalah tentang memiliki kemampuan untuk memperoleh pekerjaan awal, mempertahankan pekerjaan dan memperoleh pekerjaan baru apabila diperlukan..  Kualitas magang diukur menggunakan internship quality inventory (Gamboa, 2011). Employability diukur menggunakan self-perceived employability scale (Rothwell, 2008). Berdasarkan hasil studi, tidak terdapat hubungan antara internship quality dan employability rs(96)=(0.090, p = 0.174 > 0.05). Semakin tinggi internship quality belum tentu semakin tinggi employability (keyakinan individu dapat diterima di dunia kerja)).

Internship provides learning experiences for students, so that they are ready when the time to fully enter worlds of work arrived. But the fact is, at the site, not all student that have done the internship, feeling sure or ready to get a job. This study purpose is to find out the role of internship quality in predicting employability. Internship quality is how individual perceives quality of an internship (Gamboa, 2013). Employability is about having skills to get initial job, maintain it, and to get new job if needed (Hillage and Pollard, 1998). Internship quality measured with internship quality inventory (Gamboa, 2011). Employability measured with self-perceived employability scale (Rothwell et al., 2008). Based on the result of this study, there is no relationship between internship quality and employability rs(96)= (0.090, p = 0.174 > 0.05). The higher internship quality, not necessarily means higher employability.
