Abstract

The COVID-19 pandemic has brought several challenges in managing the health of vulnerable groups, especially older adults. Health problems that arise and are experienced by older adults during the pandemic, one of which is psychosocial disorders caused by changes in daily activities, health services, social support, and perceptual disturbances experienced by older adults. Health workers are one of the parties that play a role in promoting healthy behavior and health information to vulnerable populations who often face inequality in the health sector. There are still many nurses who have minimal knowledge regarding the management of older adult health. The positive attitude shown when performing nursing care for the older adults group can be an opportunity to implement community service related to the concept of health in this group. The implementation of community service to 545 nurses was carried out on Saturday, August 14, 2021, through zoom media. The total number of nurses who participated was spread across 21 provinces in Indonesia. The results of the Wilcoxon test activities obtained the value of Sig. = 0.000 (< 0.05), which means that there are benefits to be gained from community service activities to increase nurses' understanding of the psychosocial needs of older adults during the pandemic. The role of health workers is one of the key factors in preventing the decline in psychosocial conditions in older adults. Therefore, activities aimed at increasing the understanding and knowledge of health workers related to problems in older adults need to be carried out sustainably and massively
