Abstrak




Acne vulgaris atau jerawat adalah masalah kulit umum yang sering menyebabkan krisis percaya diri, rasa malu, dan kelelahan pada penderitanya. Optimisme sangat penting dalam menghadapi masalah ini karena membantu individu mencapai tujuan mereka dengan meningkatkan rasa percaya diri dan mengurangi kecemasan. Konsistensi dalam perawatan kulit adalah kunci untuk mencapai hasil yang diinginkan, dan pikiran positif, yang merupakan bagian dari optimisme, sangat dibutuhkan. Optimisme terbentuk dari konsep diri yang positif, yang mencakup kemampuan mengenal diri sendiri, berpikir jernih, mengakui orang lain, menetapkan visi realistis, dan memiliki pandangan optimis. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mencari hubungan antara konsep diri dan optimisme pada individu yang menjalani perawatan acne vulgaris. Menggunakan alat ukur Tennessee Self Concept Scale (TSCS) untuk konsep diri dan Life Orientation Test Revised (LOT-R) untuk optimisme, penelitian ini melibatkan 134 partisipan. Hasilnya menunjukkan bahwa 27% memiliki konsep diri positif, 59% sedang, dan 13.4% negatif. Ditemukan hubungan antara konsep diri dan optimisme dengan r = 0.376 dan p = 0.00 <0.01. Sesuai teori Calhoun dan Accocella (1990), individu dengan konsep diri positif cenderung optimis. Disimpulkan bahwa ada hubungan signifikan antara konsep diri dan optimisme pada individu yang menjalani perawatan acne vulgaris.
