PERAN STRATEGI DAN PRAKTIK KOMUNIKASI INTERNAL PERUSAHAAN XYZ PADA MASA SEBELUM DAN SESUDAH PANDEMI

Abstract

The global crisis of COVID-19 pandemic caused many changes in the organization's work system. The WFH system and various social restrictions forced organizations to make radical changes to adapt to situations that are classified as VUCA (Volatility, Uncertainty, Complexity, and Ambiguity). After the pandemic ends and employees return to WFO, not all organizations use the same system as before. One of the changes occurred during the pandemic was digital transformation which caused work systems in organizations to also change. An important aspect in work and organizational life is the Internal Communication System (ICS) of the organization. This research aims to describe changes to the implemented ICS and ICP in organizations and their role in the changes before and after the pandemic. The research was conducted at PT XYZ, a sizable company, has many business fields, and has digitized their communication processes. They can represent organizational conditions before and after the pandemic. The approach used in conducting this research is a descriptive qualitative approach with thematic analysis method. Interviews were conducted with two sources from the company who were considered to have information regarding the company's ICS and ICP before and after the pandemic. The results show that there’ve been changes in internal communication at PT XYZ before, during, and after the pandemic. These changes include the type and quantity of information, development of media communication to virtual, formal communication flows, as well as the role in the company's divisions, namely Human Capital and Continuous Improvement.


 


Pandemi COVID-19 menyebabkan banyak perubahan dalam praktik sistem kerja di organisasi. Sistem kerja WFH dan berbagai pembatasan sosial menyebabkan organisasi melakukan perubahan radikal untuk beradaptasi dengan situasi yang tergolong VUCA (Volatility, Uncertainty, Complexity, and Ambiguity). Setelah pandemi berakhir dan karyawan kembali bekerja sepenuhnya di kantor, tidak semua instansi menggunakan sistem kerja seperti sebelum pandemi terjadi. Salah satu perubahan yang terjadi selama masa pandemi adalah transformasi digital yang menyebabkan sistem kerja di organisasi juga berubah pasca pandemi. Aspek yang penting dalam kehidupan kerja dan organisasi adalah sistem komunikasi internal yang berlangsung di organisasi. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah menggambarkan perubahan sistem komunikasi internal di organisasi sebelum dan setelah pandemi, khususnya strategi dan praktik komunikasi internal yang diterapkan dan peran dari perubahannya bagi organisasi. Penelitian dilakukan di PT XYZ, sebuah perusahaan yang cukup besar, memiliki banyak bidang usaha, dan melakukan digitalisasi dalam proses komunikasi internalnya. PT XYZ dapat mewakili kondisi organisasi sebelum dan setelah pandemi yang ingin digambarkan dalam penelitian ini. Pendekatan yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah pendekatan kualitatif deskriptif dengan metode analisis tematik. Wawancara dilakukan pada dua narasumber di perusahaan yang dinilai memiliki informasi kaya terkait strategi dan praktik komunikasi internal perusahaan sebelum dan setelah pandemi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan adanya perubahan komunikasi internal di PT XYZ pada sebelum, saat, dan sesudah pandemi. Perubahan tersebut meliputi jenis dan kuantitas konten informasi, pengembangan media komunikasi menjadi virtual, perubahan pada alur komunikasi formal, serta peran tugas pada divisi perusahaan yakni Human Capital dan Continuous Improvement.
