Abstract

Based on the Basic Health Research or Riskesdas data collected in 2018 by the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Indonesia, it is known that the prevalence of obesity in Indonesia continues to rise each year. There are a variety of options available to combat obesity. Hypno-slimming, however, is a risk-free alternative that may be considered. This study aims to identify the role of user trust and attitude as mediators in the education provided by hypno-slimming therapists on the intention to use the hypno-slimming method. The data collection method employed purposive sampling by administering an online questionnaire to 106 clients/users of hypno-slimming therapy from all over Indonesia via the national hypnotherapist community affiliated with PKHI (Indonesia Hypnosis Community Association), and then analyzing the data using PLS-SEM via SmartPLS. The results of the hypothesis testing for the six direct effect hypotheses indicated that three were supported. In the meantime, the results of evaluating the three indirect effect hypotheses, revealed that only one was supported. This demonstrates that the education provided by hypno-slimming therapists does not directly influence the intention to use hypno-slimming therapy without the positive trust and attitude of prospective therapy users towards hypno-slimming therapists.
