Abstract

Social entrepreneurship is regarded as a strategic solution that bridges economic and social objectives by placing social value creation as its primary mission in addressing societal problems. Several studies suggest that women tend to have higher altruistic values than men, making them more inclined toward social entrepreneurship. This study aims to examine whether there are differences in the effects of perceived desirability and perceived feasibility on social entrepreneurial intention among Generation Z across gender. This study employed a purposive sampling technique, with university students in Jakarta as the research sample. A total of 155 valid responses were collected. The data were analyzed using PLS-SEM and PLS-MGA. The results indicate that perceived desirability does not have a significant effect on social entrepreneurial intention among males, but it has a positive and significant effect among females. Meanwhile, perceived feasibility has a positive and significant effect on social entrepreneurial intention for both gender groups. Furthermore, no significant differences were found between males and females in the effects of perceived desirability and perceived feasibility on social entrepreneurial intention. This study provides empirical evidence of gender convergence among Generation Z, indicating that gender does not significantly influence social entrepreneurship in urban communities.
