Gambaran pemilihan strategi coping terhadap stres pada mahasiswa Fakultas Kedokteran Universitas Tarumanagara

Abstract

Stres adalah perubahan perilaku dan emosi seseorang yang dapat dipengaruhi oleh berbagai faktor, baik eksternal maupun internal. Prevalensi stres pada mahasiswa fakultas kedokteran cukup tinggi. Stres harus diatasi dengan strategi coping karena banyak dampak buruk terjadi akibat stres yang dapat mempengaruhi aktivitas sehari-hari. Studi ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui gambaran strategi coping terhadap stres pada mahasiswa Fakultas Kedokteran Universitas Tarumanagara agar mereka lebih memahami manfaatnya dalam penanganan stres. Studi ini bersifat deskriptif dengan pendekatan cross-sectional. Responden studi sebanyak 184 mahasiswa Angkatan 2017 yang mengikuti blok Ilmu Kesehatan Masyarakat. Instrumen yang digunakan adalah kuesioner ways of coping dan kuesioner lainnya  untuk menilai faktor – faktor terkait. Hasil studi menunjukkan bahwa strategi coping yang paling sering digunakan oleh mahasiswa FK yaitu accepting responsibility (48,4%), sedangkan yang paling sedikit, yaitu confrontive coping (1,6%). Hal ini sesuai dengan dimensi budaya yang ada di Indonesia, yaitu feminity dan restraint. Seseorang dengan usia,  kepribadian, dan status ekonomi yang berbeda dapat memilih strategi coping yang berbeda pula, namun tidak tergantung dengan jenis kelamin. Hasil studi ini memberikan informasi bagi responden dan institusi mengenai pentingnya pemilihan strategi coping dalam mengatasi stres, agar dapat mengambil langkah selanjutnya yang berdampak positif.
