Abstrak

Planning and inventory control is one important activities that must be considered in manufacturing industry.
This aspect support the production planning, so it can be run effectively and production target can be achieved
and the company get a benefit. This research focuses on planning and inventory control Canvas EP 200 for
conveyor belt product in PT XWZ. The problems found in this research is a shortage of raw materials Canvas
EP200 in the past and there is difficulty in determine the optimal safety stock quantity. The data used for this
research are the sales data from January 2010 until September 2012 and inventory costs of canvas EP 200. The
purpose for this research are forecasting the sales of product for 12 month periods, obtaining the best lotsizing
techniques with lowest total cost of inventory based on probabilistic methods and determinsitic methods, and
calculating the number of optimum safety stock quantity. Based on the data processing and analysis, showed the
best forecasting method is Linear Regression with MAD=4995,56, MSE= 37,166,628.64,and MAPE = 43,76%.
The best lot sizing methods are Part Period Ballance, Least Total Cost, Least Unit Cost, Silver Meal, dan
Wagner Within with a total cost of inventory is $1,116,146.20 and optimum quantity of safety stock is 20 roll.
