Abstract
Every place has meaning, because place is not only about physicality and activities but also about meaning. Meaning is an identity that a place has, when the memory of humans who collectively interpret a place. The loss of meaning can be caused by several things, one of which is continuous development. Taman Palem Mall also lost its identity due to development. The first mall in Cengkareng became the first modern shopping center in Cengkareng, this mall became the only gathering point in this area, residents from several villages in Cengkareng and outside Cengkareng came for their respective needs, but after the construction of the jorr toll road at that time separated Cengkareng into two, namely west and east Cengkareng, limiting access to the palm garden mall. The separation of Cengkareng resulted in only west Cengkareng which continued to experience growth while east Cengkareng where this mall is located did not experience growth, so this had an impact on the decline of this mall. The location of this mall is strategic because it is on the connecting road between areas so it has the potential to be redeveloped and drive the growth of this area. Reprogram is chosen as a method that will be done to this mall, this is expected in addition to restoring the meaning of this mall can also build the area, especially East Cengkareng. The reprogram is also based on the contextual user and the needs of the East Cengkareng area and is expected to become a new attraction for this area.
