Abstract

Urban Strip Jalan Jaksa is located in the center of the capital city of Indonesia, a country rich in its nature, diversity and culture. However the urban environment of Jalan Jaksa doesn’t reflect Indonesia's natural wealth, but is designed as a “concrete forest” that negatively affects human psychological condition. Few of the factors causing it is the the highly polluted urban environment, the lack of green open space facilities, and the lack of psychological-emotional space that can give color to the daily lives of city residents. With this issue, the design of casual recreation was injected into Jalan Jaksa which has a shortage of recreational facilities and green open spaces in its area. Using bioinspired phenomenological method as the design approach with the theme of tropical rain forests as one of Indonesia's unique nature. The combination of these two methods aims to bring a psychological-emotional space in the middle of an urban environment to help improve the quality of life and have a good impact on the psychological state of the residents of the Jalan Jaksa area, while alse providing a unique local experience, spatial experience as if being in a tropical rainforest of Indonesia. Elements of tropical rain forest are dissected and grouped into biomimicry, biomorphism, and bioutilization which are part of bioinspired which are divided according to the 4 layers of tropical rain forest. The extracted Bioinspired characteristics are then grouped into the five senses to produce a person's multisensory experience in each layer of the tropical rainforest.
