INSOMNIA DAN KEBIASAAN LATE NIGHT EATING SERTA SKIPPING BREAKFAST PADA MAHASISWA FAKULTAS KEDOKTERAN UNIVERSITAS TARUMANAGARA

Abstract

One of the most common sleep disorders in teenagers and adults is insomnia. Sleep disorders either with quality or quantity and associated with one or more other sleep problems (difficulty initiating sleep, difficulty maintaining sleep, or early-morning awakening with inability to return to sleep) are the characteristic of insomnia. About 10% population in Indonesia suffer from insomnia. Late night eating is one of habits that can arise due to insomnia and can influence their next eating behavior which is skipping breakfast. The aim of this study was to analyze the relationship between insomnia with late night eating and skipping breakfast habits among medical students of Tarumanagara University. This study is an observational study with a cross-sectional design of 188 subjects that was obtained using simple random sampling and conducted using an unpaired categorical analytical formula. Data were collected by using questionnaire distributed via online which include subject identity, insomnia, late night eating and skipping breakfast assessment. Data were analyzed by Chi-Square. Around 73,4% of subjects in this study experience insomnia. The results of the Chi-square analysis showed no significant association between insomnia and late-night eating habits (p=0,445) but there was a significant association between insomnia and skipping breakfast habits (p=0,035). As conclusion, insomnia was not associated with late-night eating but with skipping breakfast among medical students of Tarumanagara University.

Abstrak


Salah satu jenis gangguan tidur yang umum terjadi pada remaja dan dewasa adalah insomnia. Gangguan tidur baik secara kualitas dan kuantitas serta diikuti oleh satu atau lebih kondisi tidur lain (sulit memulai tidur, sulit mempertahankan waktu tidur atau terbangun lebih cepat di pagi hari dan tidak mampu untuk kembali tidur) merupakan tanda-tanda dari insomnia. Sekitar 10% orang Indonesia mengalami insomnia. Late night eating merupakan salah satu kebiasaan yang dapat muncul akibat insomnia. Hal ini kemudian dapat memengaruhi perilaku makan selanjutnya yaitu skipping breakfast. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui hubungan insomnia dengan kebiasaan late night eating dan skipping breakfast pada mahasiswa Fakultas Kedokteran Universitas Tarumanagara. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian observasional dengan desain potong lintang pada 188 orang subjek penelitian yang diperoleh dengan cara simple random sampling dan menggunakan rumus analitik katagorik tidak berpasangan. Pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan menggunakan kuesioner serta disebarkan melalui daring yaitu berupa identitas responden, penilaian insomnia, kebiasaan late night eating dan skipping breakfast. Data dianalisis dengan menggunakan uji Chi- Square. Sebesar 73,4% subjek penelitian didapatkan mengalami insomnia. Hasil uji Chi-Square menunjukkan tidak terdapat hubungan yang bermakna antara insomnia dengan perilaku late night eating (p=0,445) namun terdapat hubungan yang bermakna antara insomnia dengan perilaku skipping breakfast (p=0,035). Kesimpulan dari penelitian ini adalah insomnia tidak berhubungan dengan perilaku late night eating namun memengaruhi perilaku skipping breakfast pada mahasiswa Fakultas Kedokteran Universitas Tarumanagara.
