MENINGKATKAN PENGETAHUAN PENGASUH PERIHAL POLA PENGASUHAN DAN PERKEMBANGAN ANAK-ANAK DI PANTI ASUHAN X

Abstract

This Humanitarian Project was implemented to carry out intervention to increase the knowledge, skills and behavior of caregivers in implementing parenting and child development patterns at Orphanage X. This intervention is motivated by the phenomenon of parenting failure, which as an example is the existence of poor discipline methods for children, which is caused because caregivers do not have guidelines. Data analysis methods used in this intervention were observation and interviews with caregivers. Intervention regarding parenting patterns and child development are designed through psychoeducation programs and developed with aspects covering children's physical, cognitive and psychosocial development, the basics of parenting, various characteristics of children, how to handle tantrums and quiet children, dan appropriate teaching methods for children to the caregivers at the Orphanage X. This intervention gave significant positive results, namely an increase in the knowledge of caregivers at the Orphanage X, where the average rating on the pre-test was 40% to 73% for the average post-test score. So the results of this increase prove that the knowledge and understanding of caregivers is much better than before and they already have guidelines that can be practiced in parenting. This increase in knowledge is also accompanied by changes in the behavior and skills of caregivers in caring for children. The caregivers become calmer, better able to control their emotions, and can recognize the characteristics of each child, and are able to have many ways to deal with the problems of children with different characteristics.

Proyek Kemanusiaan ini dilaksanakan untuk melakukan intervensi peningkatan pengetahuan, keterampilan dan perilaku para pengasuh dalam menerapkan pola pengasuhan dan perkembangan anak di Panti Asuhan X. Intervensi ini dilatarbelakangi oleh terjadinya fenomena kegagalan pola asuh yang sebagai salah satu contohnya adalah adanya metode pendisiplinan anak yang kurang baik, yang disebabkan karena para pengasuh belum mempunyai panduan. Metode analisis data yang digunakan untuk intervensi ini adalah observasi dan wawancara kepada para pengasuh. Intervensi mengenai pola pengasuhan dan perkembangan anak dirancang melalui program psikoedukasi dan dikembangkan dengan aspek-aspek yang meliputi perkembangan fisik, kognitif dan psikososial anak, dasar-dasar pengasuhan anak, macam-macam karakteristik anak, cara menangani anak tantrum dan anak pendiam, serta metode pengajaran anak yang tepat kepada para pengasuh di Panti Asuhan X. Intervensi ini memberikan hasil positif yang signifikan, yaitu peningkatan pada pengetahuan para pengasuh, yang mana skor rata-rata pengetahuan pengasuh pada pre-test adalah 40% menjadi 73% untuk skor rata-rata post-test. Sehingga hasil peningkatan ini membuktikan bahwa pengetahuan dan pemahaman para pengasuh telah jauh lebih baik dari sebelumnya dan mereka sudah memiliki panduan yang dapat dipraktikkan dalam mengasuh. Peningkatan pengetahuan ini juga diiringi dengan perubahan perilaku dan keterampilan para pengasuh dalam mengasuh anak-anak. Para pengasuh menjadi lebih tenang, lebih mampu mengendalikan emosinya, dan dapat mengenal karakteristik setiap anak, serta mampu memiliki banyak cara untuk menangani masalah anak-anak dengan karakteristik yang berbeda.
