Calculating the machining cost is the most important factor in making the product. Machining costs for each
machine tools are often estimated from the total cost of the factory in accordance with conventional methods
used for management industry. Total income and expenses of the factory cost can be obtained, but the operating
status of different machine tool. It can be stated that the cost of machining is accurate for each part can not be
estimated in practice. Therefore, research should be carried out on the calculation cost of turning AISI 4340
steel using ceramic cutting tool to determine the machining cost of metal cutting production. This study,
ceramic cutting tools in varying the rake Angle, it aims to determine the magnitude and power and cutting force
associated with machining time and tool life. The data are then substituted into the equation of machining costs
per piece. Five variations of the cutting tool angle (rake angle) is used to analyze the influence of rake angle on
the machining process. This research carried out by experiments using a CNC lathe turning. In the machining
process using a metal rake angle variation influences the machining length that occurs, which produces a
positive rake angle boundary value tool wear (VB) is set longer than the other rake angle. Machining time and
cutting length provide significant impact on the machining cost per piece. On the rake angle 3 o and 6o, tool wear
of cutting tools value achieved in the 26 minutes, the length of cut obtained is 2600 mm and machining cost is Rp
