Abstract

PT. X is a company producing various of main conveyor components, especially roller and shaft. Roller making
process consists of 11 steps and use some processes type . Based on production floor observations founded some
problems such as the layout of the work station is not good. Its causing a long-distance movement of materials.
Research will be started from visitation to production floor, calculate the distance of materials movement.
Continued by designing new lay out using several tools such us ARC (Activity Relationship Chart), ARD
(Activity Relationship Diagram. The calculations using Euclidian method show the total distance movement
from incoming materials to finished materials is 84,7 m. After a change to the layout of the production floor, the
total distance of material movement reduced to 40 m teoritically. The effectiveness of distance movement
decreased to 47,22%
