Remarkably, Indonesia, ranking fourth globally in terms of Instagram users in 2022, demonstrates remarkable adoption of this AR camera effects feature, indicating rapid adoption of new media technology. This research investigates how users engage with this technology to redefine their identities and transcend traditional human boundaries. Through a desk study method, this study analyzes the "Camera Effect" feature on Instagram as a focal point for understanding the phenomenon of self-representation and exploring the concept of posthumanism. By referencing Frank Webster's theory of information society and the posthuman concept in literature, this research reveals that the AR feature on Instagram is a powerful cultural medium for self-representation, overcoming limitations between humans and technology in Indonesian Society. Self-representation becomes pivotal in posthumanism, and AR technology enables exploration and experimentation of diverse identities and expressions. Such adaptation also brings benefits in enhancing the immune system, adherence to medication consumption, and improving patient health. Support groups are crucial for patients, especially those with similar conditions, as there is a higher level of empathy, mutual information sharing, messages of hope and inspiration, and a platform for expression to enhance the life expectancy of patients with chronic diseases. These support groups emerged since the 1970s, constituting an integral component of healthcare. The existence of support groups is closely linked to helping improve health outcomes and reduce patient mortality rates. The diagnosis given by doctors to individuals can be a traumatic event. In such conditions, effective support systems are needed. These support systems can include friends, family, doctors, or other patients who have experienced similar illnesses. The similarity among members of the support group makes them a "support system" capable of providing both physical and psychological benefits and increasing adherence to the treatment process. The difficulties experienced by patients and their families in managing chronic diseases become highly complex when they do not receive support from their social environment. This motivates the existence of online support groups, which provide them with the flexibility to exchange information and discuss their health problems. To achieve the goals of this research, the researcher used content analysis with the object being the posts of HGM Community from September to December 2022, while the unit of analysis used was proportional analysis unit. This research found that the most frequently used form of support by group members was instrumental support. The results from 149 posts in HGM Community posts obtained in this study showed that instrumental support with the category of "problem-solving" was the most commonly found.
Azizun Kurnia Illahi Copyright (c) 2024 Jurnal Komunikasi https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/4.0/ 2024-07-20 2024-07-20 16 1 182 204 10.24912/jk.v16i1.26912 Strategies for Herbal Knowledge Inheritance Through Non-Formal Education in Traditional Villages https://journal.untar.ac.id/index.php/komunikasi/article/view/29048
In the current context of globalization, the process of passing on traditional knowledge, particularly in relation to medicinal plant applications, faces significant hurdles. Therefore, prompt actions are needed to increase the number of visitors. Therefore, using the stimulus-organism-response (S-O-R) framework, this research delves into the intricate factors that mold individuals' propensity to revisit Riau Island. Employing a survey-centric methodology, an extensive dataset was scrupulously amassed from eligible participants through the deployment of digital questionnaires. Stringent criteria were implemented via purposive sampling, ensuring respondents had frequented Riau Island at least thrice in the preceding two years. The two-month duration of data collection yielded a robust dataset, encompassing a total of 154 responses. The analysis, executed using the Partial Least Squares (PLS) method in SmartPLS 4 software, validates the affirmative impact of both destination quality and destination source credibility on tourist satisfaction and the willingness to revisit. Furthermore, the results disclose that tourist satisfaction functions as a positive mediator in these relationships. This implies that the perceived destination quality and source credibility indirectly contribute to the probability of future visits by positively influencing the overall satisfaction of tourists. These findings not only enrich people’s understanding of the determinants influencing individuals' choices to revisit a destination, but also present valuable implications for enhancing destination management and marketing strategies, ultimately aiming to elevate the overall tourist experience.
