GAMBARAN ATTITUDES AND OPINIONS DISCLOSURE PADA MANAJEMEN KONFLIK PASANGAN DEWASA MUDA

Abstract

Salah satu tugas perkembangan pada masa dewasa muda yakni menjalin hubungan romantis dengan lawan jenis. Pada dasarnya, hubungan berpacaran merupakan bentuk penjajagan dari hubungan intim, yang melalui relasi tersebut harapannya kedua individu mampu untuk belajar saling mengenal dan memahami lebih dalam satu sama lain. Namun, adanya perbedaan atau pertentangan pola pikir, sikap dan sudut pandang tertentu dapat menyebabkan konflik relasional. Self-dislcosure dalam teori penetrasi sosial berguna untuk memahami kualitas dan meningkatkan keterhubungan serta dukungan sosial yang lebih baik, melalui salah satu aspek yang mendasari perbedaan individu yakni keterbukaan pada sikap dan pandangan personal. Meskipun konflik dalam hubungan dapat menyebabkan munculnya pengaruh negatif bagi individu maupun keberlangsungan hubungan, konflik juga dapat memberikan evaluasi yang lebih baik dari suatu relasi romantis yang dimaksudkan untuk menciptakan strategi manajemen konflik melalui komunikasi. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah pendekatan kualitatif fenomenologi melalui wawancara mendalam terhadap tiga pasangan pria dan wanita dalam rentang usia dewasa muda 19-40 tahun yang telah menjalin hubungan romantis minimal selama satu tahun. Penelitian ini menemukan bahwa keterbukaan diri dalam hal sikap dan pandangan personal berpengaruh positif dalam rangka memediasi manajemen konflik dengan pasangannya. Saat mengekspresikan dirinya selama konflik, adanya determinasi sosial dan peran gender turut mempengaruhi bagaimana individu berperilaku. Para subyek menunjukkan adanya beragam gaya manajemen konflik dengan jenis compromising style, integrating style, obligin style, dominating style, dan avoiding style.
