Abstract

= 0.116, p = 0.085).

The COVID-19 pandemic has caused many changes in daily life. Students are one of the affected parties in this change because learning that used to be offline (outside the network) has become online (in the network). In this research, the researcher focuses on the role of the coping strategy of final year students who are working on their final project (thesis) against academic burnout that occurs during their online learning period. The research method used in this research is non-experimental quantitative because the researcher did not manipulate or intervene on the research sample. The research participants were 202 students (68.3% female & 31.7% male) aged 21-25 years from various universities in Jakarta who were taken using purposive sampling method and the sampling was done online. The research instruments used are the Coping Inventory for Stressful Situation-21 and the Maslach Burnout Inventory-Student Survey which have been adapted into Indonesian. Multiple regression analysis showed that task focused coping (? = -0.430, p = < 0.01) and emotion focused coping (? = 0.311, p = < 0.01) had a significant role in academic burnout by 28.8% but not with avoidant coping (? = 0.116, p = 0.085).
