FANS K-POP DAN ISU SOSIAL: SEBUAH KAJIAN ETHNOGRAFI DIGITAL PADA KETERLIBATAN FANDOM K-POP DENGAN ISU SOSIAL DI MEDIA SOSIAL

Abstract

Tulisan ini menitik beratkan pada permasalahan bagaimana fans K-pop terlibat pada isu-isu sosial terutama di media sosial. Tujuan utama penulisan artikel ini adalah untuk menujukkan sisih lain kegiatan fans K-pop sehingga fans Kpop tidak lagi dipandang sebagai sekumpulan orang yang fanatik dan bodoh. Dengan menggunakan metode etnografi digital, penelitian ini menunjukkan hasil bahwa fandom K-pop yang dikenal dengan berbagai stigma negatif yang melekat pada diri dan berbagai aktivitasnya ternyata memiliki sisi positif. Aktivitas ini dikenal dengan istilah fans activism dan aktivitas yang menujukkan keterlibatan fans K-pop pada isu sosial ini banyak terjadi melalui berbagai sosial media. Ada banyak cara yang digunakan oleh fans K-pop untuk terlibat dengan isu sosial, salah satunya adalah dengan cara melakukan mengunggah yang berkaitan dengan isu sosial secara serentak sehingga menjadi viral dan bisa menutupi permasalah lainnya. Salah satu contoh keterlibatan penggemar K-pop dengan isu sosial di media sosial adalah Ketika penggemar K-pop membuat unggahan fancam idolanya untuk membantu kampanye gerakan #BlackLivesMatter. Keterlibatan fans K-pop pada isu sosial juga terjadi pada ranah politik seperti permasalahan Omnibus law dan keberhasil fans K-pop menyabotase kampanye salah satu calon presiden Amerika Serikat. Keterlibatan fans k-pop dalam berbagai isu sosial juga terjadi saat pandemi Covid 19 berlangsung dimana dalam masa pandemik COVID-19, penggemar K-pop beramai-ramai saling mengingatkan untuk jaga kesehatan dan mematuhi aturan yang sudah ditetapkan. Keterlibatan fandom K-pop pada isu sosial juga dilakukan dengan cara menggunpulkan donasi melalui berbagai media sosial mereka. Keterlibatan penggemar K-pop dalam isu sosial merupakan salah satu cara bagi fandom K-pop yang mayoritas adalah anak muda untuk menujukkanrasa kepeduli terhadap masalah sosial yang sedang terjadi dan untuk membuktikan bahwa fandom K-pop bukan hanya sekeompok orang yang bodoh. 


This paper focuses on the problem of how K-pop fans is involved in social issues, especially on social media. The main purpose of this article is to show another side of the activities of K-pop fans so that K-pop fans are no longer seen as a bunch of fanatics and stupid people. By using the digital ethnography method, this study shows that the Kpop fandom, which is known for its various negative stigmas attached to itself and its various activities, actually has a positive side. This activity is known as fan activism and activities that show the involvement of K-pop fans on social issues often occur through various social media. There are many ways that K-pop fans use to engage with social issues, one of which is by simultaneously uploading related social issues so that they become viral and can cover up other problems. One example of the involvement of K-pop fans with social issues on social media is when K-pop fans make uploads of their idol fancam to help the #BlackLivesMatter movement campaign. The involvement of K-pop fans in social issues also occurs in the political realm, such as the problem of the Omnibus law and the success of K-pop fans in sabotaging the campaign of one of the United States presidential candidates. The involvement of k-pop fans in various social issues also occurred during the Covid 19 pandemic where during the COVID-19 pandemic, K-pop fans flocked to remind each other to take care of their health and obey the rules that had been set. K-pop fandom involvement in social issues is also done by collecting donations through their various social media. The involvement of K-pop fans in social issues is one way for the K-pop fandom, which is mostly young people, to show concern for the current social problems and to prove that K-pop fandom is not just a bunch of stupid people.
