HUBUNGAN ANTARA PERBANDINGAN SOSIAL DAN HARGA DIRI PADA WANITA DEWASA AWAL PENGGUNA SOSIAL MEDIA INSTAGRAM

Abstract

Instagram seringkali digunakan sebagai platform untuk keseharian masyarakat untuk mendapatkan kepuasan dan kebahagiaan. Pada penelitian terdahulu terdapat bahwa penggunaan Instagram turut berperan dalam mempengaruhi harga diri yang rendah dan rasa tidak berdaya. Berdasarkan penelitian sebelumnya, menemukan bahwa wanita lebih rentan untuk mengalami adiksi sosial media yang berlebihan. Hal ini disebabkan karena adanya keinginan untuk membangun representasi diri yang positif melalui media instagram dengan penggunaan filter atau penyaringan foto tertentu yang membentuk suatu standar visual yang berlebihan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui hubungan perbandingan sosial dengan harga diri. Metode non-probability sampling digunakan dalam penelitian ini. Sebanyak 331 partisipan perempuan berusia antara 18 dan 25 tahun, yang menggunakan sosial media instagram dalam penelitian ini. Metode penelitian kuantitatif non-eksperimental dilakukan dengan menyebarkan kuesioner, serta alat ukur yaitu lowa-Netherlands Comparison Orientation Scale Measure dan Rosenberg Self-Esteem Scale ke dalam Bahasa Indonesia. Analisis data menggunakan teknik uji korelasi Pearson menunjukkan terdapat hubungan negatif yang signifikan antara perbandingan sosial dan harga diri (r = -0.347, p = 0.000). Lebih lanjut, hasil penelitian menemukan bahwa  terdapat perbedaan perbandingan sosial dan harga diri ditinjau dari usia, pendidikan terakhir, dan durasi penggunaan instagram. Berdasarkan penelitian ini, dukungan dari keluarga, kerabat maupun teman menjadi penting untuk ditingkatkan sehingga dapat meningkatkan tingkat harga diri pengguna
