PENGARUH INTERNALIZED WEIGHT STIGMA TERHADAP KECEMASAN SOSIAL PADA MAHASISWA

Abstract
Di masa kini, penampilan menjadi suatu hal yang sangat penting. Orang-orang yang penampilannya dinilai menarik adalah orang-orang yang memiliki massa tubuh ideal. Mereka yang dianggap bertubuh gemuk umumnya dinilai tidak cantik atau tampan. Individu yang dinilai bertubuh kegemukan ini cenderung mengalami pengalaman buruk, seperti bullying dan body shaming, oleh karena adanya stigma terkait massa tubuh. Akibatnya, mereka menjadi rentan terhadap tingkat internalized weight stigma dan kecemasan sosial yang tinggi. Penelitian ini dilakukan dengan tujuan untuk mengukur seberapa besar pengaruh internalized weight stigma terhadap tingkat kecemasan sosial pada mahasiswa yang sedang memasuki usia emerging adulthood. Metode dalam penelitian ini adalah kuantitatif non-eksperimental, dengan teknik analisis data menggunakan regresi linear. Teknik sampling yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah teknik convenience sampling. Sebanyak 504 data partisipan digunakan dalam penelitian ini. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa terdapat pengaruh internalized weight stigma yang positif dan signifikan terhadap kecemasan sosial pada mahasiswa dengan kategori usia emerging adulthood. Adapun peran internalized weight stigma terhadap kecemasan sosial diketahui sebesar 57.3%.
